Diversify The Stage.

Diversify The Stage was founded by Noelle Scaggs, co-lead vocalist of Alt-Pop Band Fitz And The Tantrums, in the Spring of 2020 after connecting with industry leaders to discuss the lack of diversity encountered while on tour. Through these conversations, recognition of shared concerns, and need for change, Noelle decided to partner with like-minded individuals and organizations to create action and long-term change with two goals in mind:

1. Creating one comprehensive, central and industry-wide resource for hiring touring staff. This resource will be a place where touring professionals can market themselves and gain access to career opportunities, bringing forth a technical solution to the commonly used word of mouth referrals.

2. Curating youth and college-aged programming in partnership with established nonprofit and industry-led organizations that focus on the industries’ most underrepresented communities. Participants in these programs will become the next generation of leaders in the industry and a new resource pool of qualified candidates.

After months of research, introductions, and garnering support for this initiative, Diversify The Stage is proud to endorse NeverFamous.com, an online employment portal for concert tour and festival staff created by concert touring industry leader, Jerome Crooks. Never Famous is a member-based website that allows tour personnel to manage profiles featuring job titles, experience, resumes, notable tour lists, references, and other essential scheduling assets that allows staffers to identify blocked dates. Membership is based on referrals and experience (two-year minimum requirement) so that artists and production companies are assured of qualified candidates. Custom web tools allow staffers to search candidates in the database by name, job position, dates, and availability.

In addition to tour staffing services, Never Famous and Diversify The Stage are working together to create ways of supporting individuals who do not meet the two-year minimum criteria to ensure we can give young, driven, and qualified candidates opportunities to gain access to equitable opportunities and experience in the touring industry. Never Famous will provide a direct connection to suppliers, mental health resources, and support communities dedicated to serving our most underrepresented communities in live music, events, and touring spaces. We aim to create a genuinely diverse network and empower members to promote themselves and their businesses. To prepare for the launch in the Spring of 2021, touring professionals are welcome to apply for access to Never Famous

Connect Tours with Tour Personnel

Bands, festivals, TV shows, traveling Broadway musicals, and other touring groups need competent and diverse personnel who perform their tasks with a high level of expertise and professionalism day-in and day-out.

Touring personnel need a way to market their expertise and let their availability be known within the industry.

Both groups need a way to broaden the scope of available jobs, resources, and candidates, and break out of the cycle of peer-to-peer referrals and word of mouth as the primary
way to hire and get hired.

Never Famous connects everyone with a single online platform.

How Does It Work?

Never Famous bridges the gap between tour operation and management teams looking for staff, and professionals looking for tour work. Availability, profiles, credentials and more are all easily accessible on the platform.

Profiles and credentials are user-curated. Users are granted access to the platform after a prescreening process that includes referrals, recommendations and references.

Diversity Initiatives

Never Famous has partnered with Diversify The Stage to address the lack of diverse representation among industry professionals. The goals of the partnership are twofold: to build awareness of diversity gaps with management companies, agencies, and promoters through direct conversation, and to provide a central, industry-wide resource for tour staffing, direct connections to suppliers, mental health services, and support for underrepresented communities in live music, events, and
touring businesses.
